Hello Change-makers!,
I’m filled with excitement as we celebrate Vallejo’s victories tonight—what an incredible journey it’s been!
Even though the polls are unofficial, I think it’s safe to say that we have our newly elected council members, Alex Matias and Dr. Tonia Lediju. Your dedication to our community inspires us all!
I want to highlight the hard work and determination shown by both Alex Matias and Dr. Lediju throughout their campaigns. Watching the District 1 race unfold has been a truly incredible experience, not just because I volunteered with Alex Matias, but because of the relentless commitment both candidates demonstrated to our community. Alex’s campaign was a testament to his unwavering belief in Vallejo’s potential. Throughout the process, he consistently put the needs of our city first, working tirelessly to ensure that every voice was heard and every concern addressed, and it showed in his interactions with voters, as he made it clear that his focus was on solutions that would truly benefit the community.
As for Dr. Lediju's approach to her campaign, even while running unopposed, her efforts to engage with residents and prioritize their concerns demonstrate a strong commitment to leadership and community involvement. By connecting with residents directly, she's building trust and ensuring that her role isn't just about holding office, but about actively serving and responding to the needs of the people. This kind of engagement can help foster a sense of collaboration and shared responsibility

Pippin Dew Concedes

Pippin Dew’s concession to Andrea Sorce was a surprising but a smart decision in the long run. Her statement on social media congratulating Sorce was gracious and hopefully a moment of unity in Vallejo’s often divided political scene. While Pippin’s past role as a council member earned her recognition, it wasn’t enough to overcome the wave of grassroots support and community engagement that propelled Sorce forward. It was a strategic move for Pippin to step back rather than prolong the race, acknowledging the clear momentum behind Sorce.
And of course, I want to recognize Ms. Sorce. This election was a close one, but talent and passion were never in question. When voters lack information, they often stick to familiar names, but Sorce didn’t leave her campaign hanging. She was out in the streets, making herself known, building real connections, and showing up for the community. Her approach wasn’t about relying on big endorsements or pouring in money; it was about genuine engagement and hard work. That effort paid off, and in the end, it was her persistence and the trust she earned from voters that made all the difference.
This election shows us that hard work, dedication, and the willingness to be present in the community is what truly drives change. Let’s remember that we have the power to shape our future, and every effort counts. Keep pushing, keep inspiring, and keep making a difference. The best is yet to come!

Maybe you should write about, what’s currently going on in the city. Matter of fact Who.
Yes Azelya!!!
Be opinionated with the knowledge you share, that’s leadership.
Be you, all of us older people apparently keep blowing it.
Young people like you fill me with hope for the future of our society.
Thank you for your commitment to your community.
Change is good!
Made some good points about Dew being a familiar face, that’s why I was gunna vote for her. I thought it was odd that she was getting so much big ticket $$$ for a small town election.
Seems like you have a personal vendetta against Pippin Dew.
