In a hard-fought game, the Bruins suffered a tough 53-89 loss to St. Mary's. Despite the lopsided score, the Bruins' senior players showcased their leadership and determination, keeping their team's spirit alive until the final buzzer.

Seniors Lead the Charge

The Bruins' offense was spearheaded by senior standout Christian Trusclair, whose relentless drive to the basket kept the scoreboard going. Christian's passion was evident throughout the game, exemplified by his immediate transition to defense after missing a layup. Fellow seniors Isaiah Wilson and Terry Finn also stepped up, providing crucial support and maintaining the team's energy levels.

Isaiah's rebounding, and cutting to the basket proved the Bruins second-chance opportunities and limiting St. Mary's possessions.

Offensive Strategies and Challenges

The Bruins' offensive game plan centered around aggressive drives to the basket, with Christian's leading the charge.

With the assist from Terry Finn, Christian was able to cut to the basket.

This strategy, while not always successful, demonstrated the team's courage and determination. Amelio Vigil played a crucial role, positioning himself strategically under the basket to capitalize on easy scoring opportunities.

However, the team faced significant challenges, particularly in handling St. Mary's double-team defense. This tactical pressure from Saint Mary's led to turnovers and missed opportunities, contributing to the widening score gap.

Team Spirit Shines Through

Despite the mounting deficit, especially in the fourth quarter, the Bruins' courage never wavered. The team continued to push forward, taking every opportunity to drive to the basket, even when the chances of success seemed slim. This resilience, particularly from the senior players, kept the game competitive in spirit, if not on the scoreboard.

Amelio deserves a mention for his preparedness on both ends of the court. His readiness for rebounds and close-range shots provided the Bruins with valuable second-chance points and defensive stops.

Looking Ahead

While the loss was undoubtedly disappointing, especially against a rival like St. Mary's, it has only fueled the fire for improvement. Christian Trusclair post-game comments :" Man it means a lot now because knowing they kicked our butts, so now I really want to get a get back and you know and hopefully we do better next time and definitely make adjustments I'm definitely more motivated than ever to improve for our future games with them."

The Bruins can take heart from the leadership displayed by their seniors. As the team moves forward in the regular season, the experience gained from this challenging match-up against St. Mary's will be invaluable.

With seniors like Christian Trusclair, Isaiah Wilsion , and Terry Finn leading the way, the Bruins will undoubtedly be working hard to address their weaknesses and come back stronger in their next encounter.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on how the Bruins bounce back from this setback, with their senior leaders poised to guide the way to future successes on the court.

Below you can see a full transcript of Christian Trusclair, and Isaiah Wilsion post game comments.

Azelya: how do you personally evaluate your performance?

Because again you were the majority of the points any time there was an open

shot you took that opportunity.

Christian Trusclair : so I think I could have done better. I don't think that was enough to be honest. I thought I could have scored a bit more. I thought I could have made more shots. So yeah, I think I could have definitely done a little bit better. But yeah, I just gotta keep working towards completing the shots that I'm taking.

Azelya: Okay, and what were some of the key moments in the game where you knew that you needed to improve?

Christian Trusclair :Definitely when I got double teaming, like I had to, like, you know, like, kind of make an adjustment until my teammates were able to break free from the press.

Azelya: what do you think led to the loss against Saint Mary's?

Isaiah Wilson: Honestly we played bad no sugar coat to it , we could not pull through at all and the turnovers killed us , we need to play more as a team, limit turnovers and play more aggressively.
